Low Haygarth Dancing Queen

Born: 7th June 2010

Sex: Mare

Breed: Welsh D

Height: Still growing!!

Colour: Bay

Breeding: Sire: Maylands Sid, Dam: Gristhills Footloose, Dam Sire: Minvffordd Principality

Breeder: Mrs B Burton, Lowhaygarth Farm Stud

Info: Bought as a yearling this filly(with a VERY thick mane)  is full sister to Will 'O' the Wisp. Pure Welsh Section D, and again from our friends at the Low Haygarth stud, we hope she will make between 14.2hh and 15hh and be just as much of a superstar as her big brother.

We plan to break her in when she is nearly 4 as we did with Will but also look into the possibility of breeding from her.  She'll attend a few shows 2012 but has mainly be getting settled with her new family.  She has a lovely temperament, very inquisitive and not frightened of anything other than Digger!!

Great news, Gem is now backed and in the early stages of her training - brakes and accelerator are working well but steering needs some adjustment!!! Looking forward to competing with her next season.

Info: We are hoping Ned will become my next competition horse.  His Sire is a top class dressage horse who is also the Llyods TSB horse with excellent lines that go right back to his GrandSire. Our fingers are crossed for this special horse who is already showing promise with his movement.

Update: Ned is now lunging confidently with a saddle and bridle on. He has been sat on and is now working on his trot.

Ned has spent the summer turned away with his best buddy, Hamish. He is now back at school, and we can't wait to see him at his first dressage competition.

Low Haygarth Will 'O' the Wisp

Born: 22nd June 2007

Sex: Gelding

Breed: Welsh D

Height: 14.2hh

Colour: Black

Breeding: Sire: Maylands Sid, Dam: Gristhills Footloose, Dam Sire: Minvffordd Principality

Breeder: Mrs B Burton, Lowhaygarth Farm Stud

Info:  Bought as a yearling as a project for myself, he is proving to be a superstar.  Backed and broken in 4 hours!!! A very quick and willing learner that we have high hopes for. In his first 3 show outings last year as a 3 year old in hand, he took top prizes at 2 of the them.

Will is also showing real promise in many phases.  Going clear round crosscountry and showjumping courses and getting placed and dressage competition.  He was Dressage Champion at his first dressage competition due to him getting the highest percentage of the day. 3rd at his first novice one day event and was Champion  M&M  at his second ridden show.

Will did his first BE80 at the beginning of 2012 and thoroughly enjoyed it. This year - 2013 - we will be concentrating on Working Hunter classes.

Will has had a brilliant year - 12th at the Highland Show in a MASSIVE WH class and over an  incredibly technical course. He has just been to the festival of Champions, coming 3rd in a very strong Sec D class.

Info:  Poe is an ex Racehorse turned Eventer who has taken me through alot in my competition experience.  He helped me pass my Pony Club 'B' test, we've been to the Pony Club National Novice Team Championships for the eventing, dressage and combined training and won all three disciplines.  We have been to the British Riding Club Open Eventing as a individual and the intermediate team Showjumping Championships where he was crowned with the rehabilitated racehorse award. He has also competed at  British Eventing up to Novice Level and has 1 point.  He is currently with a new home on loan and they had their first season British Eventing in 2010.  Poe has now been downgraded in BE so can compete at BE90 level and get placed.  Good luck to them this season.

Such a fabulous horse that anybody can ride and has been used to make up teams many times with pony club members who have never jumped him before.

One in a million!!

Poe has now sadly had to retire for ridden work.  He is staying with his loan home until she finds a new horse to replace him He'll come back to us to live out his older years.

Born: 1996

Sex: Gelding

Breed: Dutch Warmblood X Connemara

Height: 158cm

Colour: Dun

Breeding: Sire: Aljosar, Dam: Brookhill Irish Water

Breeder:

Info: Digger has been in our family for a long time.  A bit of a late bloomer we bought him as a 5 year old to be our Ridden Hunter show horse.  We had a successful first season taking 2nd place in the Small ridden hunter class at Cumberland Show. We then decided to go for the Working Hunter titles, sadly Digger took a dislike to the jumps, so we decided to take him eventing to get him round rustic courses.  When Digger turned 10 he suddenly realised that he loved his job and things started looking up for us.  He has now got many rosettes from British Eventing at both BE90 & BE100 levels, we qualified for the Grassroots BE90 Regional Finals in 2009 and in 2010 the BE100 Regionals, sadly on both occations we were unable to go.  In 2011 Digger was named Show Champion at Hawkshead Show beating off the competition and coming home with five trophies. To finish off the season Digger turned his hoof back to British Eventing taking 2nd place at Askham Bryan and qualifying for the Badminton grass roots regional final- showing everyone that he truly is an all round horse.

Info: Abbie has proved to be worth her weight in gold, she was bought to get my mother back into the saddle and she has done just that.  Not only has just inproved the confidence of her riders and given pony rides at a local primary school she has also had quite a succesful showing carear.  At her first year at Cumberland County Show she was the Reserve Champion in the Mountain and Moorland Championship.

Abbie had a lovely colt foal at the end of July 2012 - Hamish of Blengside.

The Djuke Himself

Sex: Gelding

Breed: Connemara X Thoroughbred

Height: 13.2hh

Colour: GreyInfo: Djuke was a star pony. He was the perfect Pony Club Pony but also excelled in the show ring, winning many Working Hunter classes and was named Champion on numerous occasions.

He competed at the Pony Clup National Novice Championships Eventing and qualified for PUK and the Vauxhall Challange through the BSPS.

He was sold to a lovely family near Kendal in 2003 where he excelled in Dressage, winning many competitions and went to the BRC dressage championships and was featured in the BRC Magazine.

Sadly Djuke had an accident with another horse which resulted in him having to be put to sleep.  A very sad end to a fantastic pony.

Peilview Conker

Sex: Gelding

Breed: Welsh B

Height: 12.2hh

Colour: Chestnut

Info: When little Dinky was bought from Wigton Horse Sales he was a sorry sight. No body thought he would go on to jump at the Horse of the Year show!  This cheeky little man came to us when he was 2yrs.  He went well in the show ring, winning many prizes. I broke him in when he was 4 and even in the beginning he showed promise over the fences, a bold little pony with a big jump.

He was sold on to a family who had a smaller rider and promptly started BSJA where he excelled in a big way. In his second year with this family they qualified and competed at the Horse of the Year Show.

 :                                                                     :

Minnie Magic

Age: roughly 20 years

Sex: Mare

Breed: Welsh A

Height: 11.1hh

Colour: Grey

Info: The pony that started it all! Minnie started off life on the Welsh mountains. She was passed from dealer to dealer, then on to the family that we bought her off, and what a buy she was.

Although she was only a 5 year old when we bought her you would think that she had already been there, and done it for years.  She did everything she was asked, with a few bucks in between!! A strong little pony but fantastic at games and jumping.  She had a temprement that everybody loved and many people to this day remember little Minnie, who gave the big horses a run for their money over the show jumps.

Minne was one of those ponies you wished grew with the rider, but the very sad day came when I really was too big for her and we sold her on to a fantastic family in Scotland that adored her. She went on to compete in the Eglinton games team, and as far as we are aware, even in her later years of nearly 20, she is still going strong.
